The Jared Lee Loughner Timeline

September 10th, 1988

The following is the Jared Lee Loughner Timeline (a Teppline in form and format).  This post was initiated at 1:00 P.M. Tucson, Arizona time on January 10, 2011.  The information contained may be updated from time to time.  This is the 6:00 P.M. January 12, 2011 version.

Note:  This first News Story / Tragedy of 2011 is perhaps the first compelling national story to occur in the age of the new technology – the age of the internet, facebook, google and bing maps and a database and human database that puts almost anyone at par with the mainstream media.

What makes this all so very interesting is that the many inaccuracies and mistakes of poor reporting and enabled by inadequate educations become almost immediately “most glaring”.  Seemingly no one is immune.

Interesting too is the fact that since Jared Loughner was both young and has led a comparatively very simple, some might say provincial, life it is beginning to look like almost every minute of his life might eventually come to trial.  This means every class he took, every conversation that he ever had, the name of every person he ever knew, every word he ever wrote or E-mailed or posted, every You-tube that he starred in or helped to make might be brought forward as evidence.  It is a lot of information.

What is new is that every data-bit of this information will be, and is being, made public.  One does not have to wait for the media to report a summary of the charges; get on line and one can read every word of every charge oneself.  We have become a data hungry and gossip hungry nation.  This time the facts will win and the gossip and rumor and innuendo will drop out and every wrong number and misspelled spelling will eventually be corrected too.

Much of my time on this line and along this line has been spent changing one “gun nut experts posting” about the 30 bullet clip into the fact of a 33 bullet clip.  It is this false minutia that makes much of America run.  If only Hannity and Fox and CNN got so much careful attention, and the Afghan war; maybe Julian Assange and Wikileaks are right – the truth will make us free.

So like the wall in Washington (the Vietnam Memorial that is) every name of every wounded will be identified and inscribed and we will know whether it was 13 or 14 in the end.  We will know if only 31 bullets were really fired and where the missing 2 or 3 (one extra might have been in the cylinder and not the clip) were hidden and if when Jared was taken down he had live bullets left to spare.  Was he counting?  At trial everyone will be counting assuming that he goes to trial and assuming that he doesn’t only the Conspiracy Theorists will win.

So do your own research and post it.  Every American is a reporter now.  Every new clue or fact might make a difference in this new mosaic – we are experimenting – the Republic is not finished, or finished with us, yet.

RANDY LOUGHNER PURCHASES HOUSE

Jared Loughner’s father moved into the house as a bachelor, and eventually got married, longtime next-door neighbor George Gayan said. Property records show Randy Loughner has lived there since 1977.

A next-door neighbor, George Gayan (age 82), stated that he was a neighbor for 30 years.  A dubious property record indicates that the house was built in 1982.

At the time of the house purchase Randy Loughner is 25 (assuming he was born in 1952); the future Amy J. Loughner would have been 20 (assuming she was born in 1957).

“Leanna Magelli, 37, said she and her family had owned a house on the street for 37 years, 17 years longer than the Loughners have lived in the neighborhood.” – L.A. Times report.

The above “memory” and the linked property record seems to provide evidence for some sanity to Jared’s utterance about “if words have no meaning”.  The property record states that the house is valued (circa 2011) at $14,398; an L.A. Times report (on January 11, 2011) says, “Unlike other homes on the block, the Loughners’ is obscured by plants. It was assessed in 2010 at $137,842.”

AMY LOUGHNER STARTS WORK FOR PARKS

Amy Loughner is a parks manager for Pima County, said Gwyn Hatcher, human-relations director for the county agency. Loughner has worked for the agency since March 1987, Hatcher said, rising through the agency to her current post, earning (circa 2011) $25.69 an hour.

Amy Loughner, whom neighbors say it the main breadwinner for the family, manages Agua Caliente Park (Hot Water Park), in northeastern Tucson. She is currently on leave, Hatcher said.

BIRTH OF JARED LEE LOUGHNER

In a web search as of 1:00 P.M. January 10, 2011 the birth place of Jared Lee Loughner has not been publicly identified.  The hospital or other location where he was born has not been identified.  His birth certificate has not been produced or reproduced.

At this time Jared Loughner’s parents are:  Father: Randy Loughner is 36 years old (apparently born in 1952); Amy J. Loughner is 31 years old (apparently born in 1957).

CONGRESS ON YOUR CORNER EVENT –

November 15, 2007

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will host her tenth “Congress on Your Corner” on Saturday, November 17 at the Oro Valley Farmers’ Market.

The two-hour event is an opportunity for residents of Southeastern Arizona’s 8th Congressional District to meet their congresswoman and discuss any issue, concern or problem involving the federal government.  Giffords’ staff will be on hand to assist constituents.

Previous “Congress on Your Corner” events in Tucson, Oro Valley, Sierra Vista, Douglas and Green Valley have each attracted between 75 and 150 people.

WHAT: “Congress on Your Corner”
WHEN: 10 a.m.-Noon Saturday, November 17
WHERE: Oro Valley Farmers’ Market, Oro Valley Town Hall, 11000 N. La Canada (southeast corner of La Canada and Naranja)

Bryce Tierney, a friend of Jared Loughner’s, who’s also 22, recalls Loughner complaining about a Giffords event he attended during that period. He’s unsure whether it was the November 17, 2007 event – Loughner “might have gone to some other rallies,” he says – but Tierney notes it was a significant moment for Loughner: “He told me that she opened up the floor for questions and he asked a question. The question was, ‘What is government if words have no meaning?’ ”

Giffords’ answer, whatever it was, didn’t satisfy Loughner. “He said, ‘Can you believe it, they wouldn’t answer my question,’ and I told him, ‘Dude, no one’s going to answer that,'” Tierney recalls. “Ever since that, he thought she was fake, he had something against her.”

Agents believe he had developed a festering and irrational hatred of Democrat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords after she failed to answer his question – ‘What is government if words have no meaning?’ – at a political rally at his college two years ago.

The above entry illustrates the confusion regarding when and where this important question was asked by Jared Loughner.  Is it possible that he asked the same question of Gabrielle Giffords several times at several separate events?

Court documents also show that Loughner had contact with Democrat Ms Giffords, 40, in the past. Other evidence included a letter on her official stationery in which she thanked him for attending a Congress on your Corner event at a mall in Tucson in 2007.

JARED LEE LOUGHNER DISRUPTIONS AT PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Pima Community College issued a statement about Loughner Saturday January 8, 2010 at 7:35 p.m. The statement described Loughner as a former student who withdrew from the college in October after being suspected for code of conduct violations.

“From February to September 2010, Loughner had five contacts with PCC police for classroom and library disruptions at Northwest and West campuses,”

Map showing location of campuses.

Lynda Sorenson, 52, who shared an algebra class with Loughner, had painted a disturbing picture of him in emails to friends, writing: “We have a mentally unstable person in the class that scares the living crap out of me.  He is one of those whose picture you see on the news, after he has come into class with an automatic weapon.”

Lynda Sorenson, the woman who had helped get Loughner expelled from his community college.
Ms Sorenson, 52, had been in Loughner’s maths class at Pima Community College. She warned the teacher last June that Loughner seemed to be the type who could carry out a school shooting.

She told friends he ‘scared the living crap out of me’.

Later in college, one student told how Loughner grabbed his crotch during a poetry class and galloped around the room reading poems about mundane tasks like showering and taking the bus.

In another incident, he burst out laughing while a female classmate read a very personal poem about abortion.

“On September 29, 2010, college police discovered on YouTube a Loughner-filmed video made at Northwest Campus. In the video, he claims that the Pima Community College is illegal according to the U.S. Constitution, and makes other claims.”

JARED LEE LOUGHNER IS SUSPENDED FROM PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The college said it told Loughner that if he wanted to come back to school, he “must resolve his Code of Conduct violations and obtain a mental health clearance indicating, in the opinion of a mental health professional, his presence at the College does not present a danger to himself or others.”

Jared Loughner withdrew from Pima Community College in October of 2010.

JARED LEE LOUGHNER PURCHASES A GLOCK 19 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL

Jared Loughner purchases a Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol and a clip containing 30 bullets at Sportsman’s Warehouse #132 in Tucson, Arizona.  He also (apparently) purchases a second clip containing 30 additional bullets and two smaller clips containing 15 bullets each.

Since 31 bullets will be fired at the Safeway and he did not use the three “extra” clips it can be deduced that Jared Loughner either bought additional bullets or that the store gave him a free bullet with his purchase of the gun.

No permit or waiting period for gun purchases of this type are required in Tucson or Pima County.  No permit is required to carry a concealed weapon.

YOU TUBE #2 POSTED

On Nov. 30, 2011 a YouTube user who appears to be Loughner posted a video that railed against Pima Community College, calls the school “unconstitutional,” a “torture facility,” and refers to teachers as “con artists.” At one point, he castigates police for removing students from educational facilities for talking.

“Removing you from the educational facility for talking is unconstitutional in the United States,” the text says. “This situation is fraud because the police are unconstitutional!”

“Every Pima Community College class is always a scam!” he says. “Most people know all the subjects are for mind control and brainwash! The students are unconstitutionally paying for free education! The students are attending a torture facility! You know the teachers are con artists?”

CONGRESS ON YOUR CORNER EVENT NEWS RELEASE –

TUCSON – U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will host her first “Congress on Your Corner” of the year on Saturday, Jan. 8 at a supermarket in northwest Tucson.

“Congress on Your Corner” allows residents of Arizona’s 8th Congressional District to meet their congresswoman one-on-one and discuss with her any issue, concern or problem involving the federal government.

Giffords has hosted numerous “Congress on Your Corner” events since taking office in January 2007. As in the past, the congresswoman’s staff will be available to assist constituents.

Previous “Congress on Your Corner” events in Tucson, Oro Valley, Green Valley, Sierra Vista, and Douglas have attracted between 75 and 150 people.

This information is from the website of Congressperson Gabrielle Gifford.  What is interesting is that the site does not identify where the event will be held, and this is already the day before the event itself.  Question:  How did (and when did) Jared Loughner find out the location of the event?

JARED LEE LOUGHNER FIRES INTO POLITICAL GATHERING IN TUCSON ARIZONA

Jared Loughner’s father saw him take a black bag out of a car trunk, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik told the AP.

The father approached Loughner, and he mumbled something and Jared took off running, Dupnik said. The father got in his truck and chased his son as he fled on foot.

Jared Loughner took a taxi cab to the supermarket where the three-term Democrat was holding a meeting to hear the concerns of her constituents, authorities said earlier.Jared Lee Loughner was identified as being the shooter in today’s attack on a political gathering held at a local Safeway grocery store.  Initial reports are that he used a semi-automatic Glock 19 pistol to kill six (6) persons and to wound fourteen (14) others.  Among those dead are United States federal judge John McCarthy Roll.  The United States Representative to Congress Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head during the attack and remains in critical condition.

A map showing the location can be found at Google Maps by entering: “Tucson 7110 North Oracle Road AZ”. The cross street is Ina Road.  The balloon is in the Safeway parking lot.

Jared Loughner fired 31 bullets. He did so from a thirty-round magazine of the nine-millimeter caliber weapon (the “extra” bullet was stored in the chamber of the gun). The duration of the shooting lasted approximately 15 seconds.

The six (6) people killed by Jared Loughner are:  Christina Taylor Green (age 9); Gabe Zimmerman (age 30); John McCarthy Roll (age 63); Dorothy Morris (age 76); Dorwan Stoddard (age 76); Phyllis Schneck (age 79).

The fourteen (14) people wounded are:  Gabrielle Giffords (age 40); Bill D. Badger (age 74); Ron Barber (age 65); Pam Simon (age?); Mavanell Stoddard (age 75);

Other people identified as being at the event are:  Patricia Maisch (age 61); Roger Salsgeber (age ?); Joseph Zimudie (age ?); Mark Kimball (age ?); Daniel Hernandez Jr. (age 20); Alex Villec (age?);

“In all, 20 were hit – almost the entire crowd that had gathered for a morning of civil discourse.”  Pauline Arrillaga of The Associated Press

Roll was killed while just passing through an outdoor town-hall style event called “Congress on your Corner” held by Giffords in a Safeway parking lot in Tucson.

“My understanding is he just went to the Safeway to do some shopping … and he just stopped to chat and say hi, ” according to C.J. Karamargin, Giffords communications director.

NEIGHBORS LOOK BACK AT LIFE WITH THE LOUGHNERS

next-door neighbor George Payan, 82, a retired copper-mine mechanic. Randy Loughner had three 1970s-era cars he had been refurbishing, Payan said on Tuesday. The elder Loughner also worked installing carpets and helping to build pool decks.

Years ago, Payan said, mechanics gave the two neighbors in the working-class Orangewood Estates, north of Tucson, a common topic to discuss, but they grew apart. “It got so there was less and less interaction,” he said.

Gayan said he and Randy Loughner had “differences of opinion but nothing where it was radical or violent.” He declined to provide specifics. “As time went on, they indicated they wanted privacy,” Gayan said.

Payan said he watched Jared Loughner grow up. Years ago, his great-grandson would play with Loughner, and more recently Payan said he would see Jared Loughner walking his dog or driving through the neighborhood.

He said he had no knowledge of Jared Loughner’s behavior through the years.

“I’ve learned more about his behavior reading the newspaper than anything I’d seen since he was a little boy,” Payan said. “His behavior this weekend, he didn’t display any of that in the neighborhood.”

Leslie Cooper owns the house next door, where her son and his family live. She recounted a time when her grandchildren would not chase after a ball that landed in the Loughners’ backyard.

“They had to buy a new one,” said Ms. Cooper, who was told of the incident by her son. “I’d tell my son, those are not normal people over there — there’s a reason why they stick to themselves,” she said, adding that she had warned him to steer clear of Randy Loughner.

“I said, be careful around that guy — don’t get him angry,” she added.

Leanna Magelli, 37, said she and her family had owned a house on the street for 37 years, 17 years longer than the Loughners have lived in the neighborhood. When her father died, the Loughners were among the first to send condolences. On Tuesday, Magelli brought a handwritten card from her mother.

“They have always been there for us when we’ve had had tragedy in our family,” Magelli said.

Linda McKinley, 62, has lived down the street from the Loughner family for decades and said the parents could not be nicer — but that she had misgivings about Jared as he got older.

“As a parent, my heart aches for them,” she said.

She added that when she was outside watering her plants she would see Jared riding down the street on his bike, often talking to himself or yelling out randomly to no one.

Once he yelled to some children on the street: “I’m coming to get you!” McKinley said.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office released this photo of Arizona shooting suspect Jared Loughner.  The question is, “What happened to his hair?”  Did Jared Loughner shave his head before the shooting or is somebody trying to make him look like a “skinhead” now that the shooting is over?
